Back after a Break

Sometimes we get so caught up with the day to day deadlines, we forget to spend some time - - learning something new about an area you are interested in - investing the time to network of persons who share similar passions to those that you have. (One conversation across a table with a wise man is worth a month's study of books. Chinese Proverb) Its amazing how in the heat of the moment these 2 tasks seem the rank at lowest priority although they can be so powerful. We should budget out time to… Continue

BajanPR on Ning

I took some time yesterday to check on this ning site, and I have to say I was very interested in what I saw. FaceBook as great as it is, usually doesn't lend to very simulating discussion. Its great when you want to chill out and check up on what your friends are up to. BajanPR actually fits into what I was looking for in terms of a network that you can hear how marketing/pr people in the Caribbean are thinking and the challenges that are facing the Caribbean. Dude... I am no Second Life guru, but I do know a few. I am what ya call 'well seasoned'. I wouldn't mind becoming an SL mogul either... and maybe THEN I can hire you to cheerlead. I will demand pom poms so brace yaself. In the interim, if you do make it in-world (and off Orientation Island) feel free to hail me up. My av's name is: Osuntomi Melendez.

that is always the million dollar question! There is so much we can do and seemingly so little time. It sounds like you are a second life guru. I guess by the time it takes over the caribbean you will be well placed to be a millionare too!
I have no problem with you giving me some of your earnings for encouraging you to stick to it!!!

Anshe Chung.... she is one of those inspiring success stories, but hear what, most people are just about breaking even. My black bookstores give me a profile, but as far as making Ls... I get more donations that actual sales. I mean, lets be real, black bookstores don't make money in real life, far more SL. However, I love that I am doing it, and not everything in life has to make money. Yes, I've built stuff on my land... I actually built the only shrine for Yemoja and Osun that exists in Second Life. I'm very proud of that... I've also done some other building and scripting for the shops. I also helped a friend recently with some building in her sim... I'd like to do more building in SL, but would prefer to get paid for it because it becomes extremely time consuming and is very intricate.

I've been a SL resident since December 2006, but I didn't buy land until about a year ago. I am also the owner of a small chain of black bookstores in Second Life, but I didn't open the stores until Sept. or Oct. last year. I think SL is amazing, but it is immersive and time sucking if you don't manage your time effectively... it's also very easy to spend a heap of money in SL if you're not careful. I manage it so that I'm only paying tier on my land and the rent on my stores, and maybe a couple cute outfits in any given month. However, I helped a friend build a sim recently and I'm telling you, its dead easy to spend a small fortune in SL....

Hey Corey... thanks for visiting my work. I really need to organise a better online portfolio, because the number of sites is continuing to increase. I am looking for other projects, so if you need to ask a question, go right ahead. :D

Hi Corey

Are you going to come to the IABC launch on Thursday?

Hey Corey,
Didn't know you were interested in PR. It would benefit you significantly though, if you are.

Hey Corey

I'm sorry to hear you are still under the weather.

I was really looking forward to reading a blog post from you about it.

Get well soon!

Cheers!

Corey,

You do not have to be a PR professional, once you are a business communicator, the IABC is for you. It does matter what industry you work in.
